Dear valued students, clients and Center for Yoga community
We understand the benefit of health and mental well-being for all of us, perhaps, now more than ever. The response many of you have shared with us about your concerns in matter of keeping the studios open to maintain some sense of your normal routine and the keep community in your lives, has been heard and is appreciated. As members of a larger global community we're committed to doing our part to help slow the spread of this illness and keep our community healthy. Our strength comes from how we care for each other and as a small business, though small we are mighty. We appreciate, as always, your continued support, together we will get through this.
At this time, and this could change, each teacher and health care provider is making their own personal decision based on what is comfortable for them. We are more a Health care facility than a exercise space, with smaller groups and a meticulous environment. To assure your safety we are keeping our common areas cleaner than ever and will refrain from hands on adjustments in the classes and ask you to bring your own props during this time. All knobs and bathrooms are sanitized after each class.
Please make contact with your teacher or therapist to find out if they are holding classes or offering treatments. Many teachers are postponing classes and will be in touch with you. Check out your teachers page to see what they have decided, and look in on the Massage folks to be updated of their situations as well. Additionally updates will be on our Facebook page, and keep an eye on the newsletters. If you have not signed up, please do!
Please know how much your support and friendship and commitment means to me and to Center for Yoga, but now more than ever I am deeply conscious of our interconnectedness. All of us at CFY are committed to being in service to you and is an absolute joy and privilege and we will be here for you in any way that we can that is safe and effective in our safety of all. Our hardships will be shared and when we meet again, our hearts will be glad. The Center for Yoga has weathered hardships before, and we will meet this one as best we can.
At CFY, we realize many studios locally and globally as well as teachers and therapists, are taking an unbearable financial hit. Taking action right now can prevent much worse disease and bad financial outcomes if the virus is contained. Without action right now, this has strong potential to be a catastrophic global event unlike anything most of us have seen in our lifetimes. If you have the means, please consider paying for the class or appointment you could not attend or be sure to make an appointment or come to class as soon as it is safe. If your teacher is offering online classes, please make the time to attend, it will help all of us stay connected. Thank you.
We wish for you Peace and Tranquility as we all navigate this difficult situation. We are available by phone 517-333-9883 if you need anything at all.
In service and love and light. Ruth Fisk and all at Center for Yoga, Movement and Massage

Anandalay Yoga Study is a program taught by Ruth Fisk at Center for Yoga to enrich your understanding of Yoga's history and create value and meaning in the tools Yoga can provide in your everyday life.
We are overjoyed to be the annual Midwest stop for Jehangir Palkhivala of Mumbai, India, a spiritual teacher who studied with BKS Iyengar from the age of 7. Jehangir shares his brilliance and remarkable depth of understanding of bringing Yoga into your life.
A visionary leader, founder and owner of the Center for Yoga, Ruth Fisk began studying Iyengar Yoga in 1980 and has been teaching for 36 years. She remains spirited and passionate in her delivery of this ancient art and science and is dedicated to the teaching of Yoga in a traditional and kind way with abundant humor and self-reflection. Ruth is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher authorized to teach BKS Iyengar's method. Her spiritual practice is guided by Jehangir Palkhivala and she makes yearly visits to India to study which enhance her teaching and personal practice. Twenty-two years ago, Ruth Fisk founded the Center for Yoga Movement and Massage, the first Yoga center in the greater Lansing area. Her teaching and the continual expansion the Center for Yoga over the years has been instrumental to growing the community of students and teachers and has facilitated numerous teachers to open Yoga studios that are operating today in greater Lansing and Mid-Michigan. Generous by nature, Ruth provides an environment at the Center that is safe and caring with the intention to help students find the right place and right teacher to grow and transform through Yoga. Ruth also mentors teachers in their quest to become knowledgeable in the teaching of Yoga and sharing of Yoga with their students.
Everyone comes to Yoga for their own reasons; Ruth's was a dance injury. The discovery of Iyengar Yoga turned into a life long journey of self-discovery and a career filled with giving and heart centered work. Ruth has dedicated her life to studying and teaching Iyengar Yoga. In her 36 years of practicing and teaching and 10 years of mentoring students to become teachers, she emphasizes the faithful, methodical and integrative communication of her direct study with the Iyengar family and her spiritual studies with Jehangir Palkhivala. Ruth travels to India each year for study, attends Iyengar conventions, hosts retreats and offers a Yoga study program for emerging teachers. Teaching Yoga for Ruth brings such happiness to be able to give back one fraction of the priceless gift her teachers have shared. Along with being an experienced teacher Certified in the tradition of BKS Iyengar, she is also an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance and the founder of the Anandalay for Yoga Study Program. This one-year program is offered to assist students in deepening their understanding of Yoga overall.
